Good Morning Estes Park,

It’s been a while since I got to write the blog, but it feels good to be back. We’ve got some special events coming up and we’d love for you to join us for them. First off we’ve got another outstanding lecture for tonight as a part of our Summer Enchanted Evenings Program. If you haven’t been to a lecture yet, every Wednesday night we have a guest speaker come in and give a presentation on something local and uniquely Estes Park. Some of our previous topics have been about The Baldpate Inn’s very own key room, the local Hummingbirds, and the founding of Rocky Mountain National Park. To compliment the perfect excuse for a night out, come have dinner with us and we always encourage reservations. Call us at 970-586-6151 or you can go online through our dining page and make a reservation directly, http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp.

It’s going to be cool and slightly damp all day, so if you’ve had enough of hiking and want to sit and have a nice meal, come on over to The Baldpate Inn. Today we’ve got some staff favorites on the menu, so come on by.

Soups: Red Chili and Potato Leek. Both of these soups have become staples here at The Baldpate Inn. The Potato Leek soup is absolutely dynamite with cheese, bacon, and hot sauce put in it.

Muffins: Zucchini Nut and Onion Garlic. Our famous Zucchini Nut muffin has been featured in Bon Appetite Magazine, and still pleases our guest here. The onion garlic muffin taste like they were created to soak up the Red Chili

The chefs couldn’t stop me this morning and I managed to sneak out this information, tomorrow looks like Beef Stew and Cream of Mushroom soups.

Have a Blessed Day,

Cory Meza, Front Desk

Good Morning All!

After a rainy Monday I think that we can all agree that we need a little sunshine in our lives, which is exactly why you should come out to the Baldpate today to try our Golden Sunshine muffins. And if that isn't enough to get you excited for this surprisingly Spring-like morning, then how about our Cowboy Buffalo Stew, Broccoli Cheese soup, and our Lemon Ginger Muffins? My belly is telling me it is going to be a good day regardless of the weather and a perfect day to curl up in front of a Baldpate fire with a good book and a piece of homemade rhubarb pie!

As a reminder, don't forget about our Summer Enchanted Evenings series happening tomorrow night at 7. The history series is free, open to all, and comes with complimentary Baldpate cookies, coffee, and punch. If you haven't made it out to one of these Wednesday night events yet I strongly encourage you to do so because the audience interaction is the best part! I almost always hear an interesting Estes Park story or trivia fact from someone who grew up around here and knowing these little "nuggets" of history really make the town's past come alive.

Well that's about all folks! If the rain deters you from visiting today, don't fret, there is always tomorrow and this week's Wednesday soups are going to be our Potato Leek and our Red Chili stew. I hope to see you all here sometime soon and as always, thanks for reading!

Best Wishes,
Katie Emard

Souper Sunday!

Good Morning Everyone!

Hopefully you all had a great Christmas in July and aren't going to have too much trouble getting back into the swing of things. Santa sure managed to deliver everything on my list yesterday and boy is he a nice guy! Both Mr. and Mrs. Claus made an appearance in our dining room and passed out Candy Canes and Spruce House coupons. They are such a jolly couple, those two!

On the menu today at the Baldpate, we have our Beef Stew and Tomato Rice soup, a delicious and "souper" combination, as well as, our Poppy Seed and Lemon Blueberry Muffins. For tomorrow's soups, I was only able to get out of our cooks that we will be serving White Chili.

Although we don't have any events going on today at the Baldpate, we do have a pretty hefty line up for this up coming week. On Wednesday at 7pm, we will be having another intriguing discussion presented for free by the Estes Park History Rescue Project. These talks are all relevant to the history of the Estes Park area and are well worth your time if you can make it out.

On Friday and Saturday, we will be having two more performances of the play "The Seven Keys to Baldpate" for which we were named. So far we have been getting rave reviews about this comedic mystery, so please call us today for play or dinner reservations at 970-586-keys!

As I wrap up this blog, I just want to give another special thanks to the Spruce House for helping us decorate for Christmas and getting us in the spirit of the season! If you get a chance, be sure to go visit the Spruce House located on Elkhorn Avenue for a special dose of holiday cheer all year long!

Thanks for reading everyone!

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care....

....in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

In case you didn't know today it's Christmas out at the Baldpate, or at least Christmas in July. Our friends from the Spruce House in town have really done some decorating out here and if I didn't know any better I would think that snow was going to start falling outside at any minute. From what I have heard, both Santa and Mrs. Clause are due to make a few appearances throughout the day, so I have my wish list ready.

Dear Santa,
I have been a very good girl this year. Please for Christmas in July may we have Red Chili and Cream of Mushroom Soups? Oh and if it is not too much to ask may we have Oatmeal Blues and Ben's Onion Garlic Muffins? Don't worry Santa, this year I will leave out your very favorite sweet treat, our scrumptious homemade cherry pie with a dollop of ice cream on top! And as one last favor Santa, please let me make it up Long's Peak? Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Love,
Katie
Because it is Christmas, the cooks were in such high spirits that they told me that we would be having our yummy Beef Stew and Tomato Rice soup tomorrow. I just love the generosity of the holidays!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Events

We are having a weekend of joy and adventure!

If you haven’t reserved your tickets for Seven Keys to Baldpate, it is NOT too late! We had a fabulous opening weekend, and I know that you will enjoy the performance as much as I did. I had the pleasure of watching the show on Saturday afternoon, and it is wonderful!

A best selling author plans to win a bet by writing a novel in less than 24 hours. Seeking solitude, he goes to a summer resort in the dead of winter, but his stay at The Baldpate Inn is interrupted by a steady stream of visitors…each bearing “the only key to Baldpate in existence”. Crooked politicians, bribe money, blackmail, true love, betrayal, double cross, a reporter’s news scoop, and a friendly wager collide in this mysterious, melodramatic farce.

Call now to reserve your tickets 970-586-5397
$15 per person -or-
$12 per person with a dinner reservation

$200 Play & Stay Mystery Package includes:
Overnight accommodations
Two tickets for Seven Keys to Baldpate at the Baldpate Mystery Theater
Dinner for two, including two glasses of wine
A copy of Seven Keys to Baldpate By Earl Derr Biggers

Also this weekend, Santa Clause is coming to….The Baldpate Inn! Our annual Christmas in July celebration will begin tomorrow July 23. Festivities will continue through the 24th, Christmas Eve and the 25th, Christmas Day. Join your friends at The Baldpate Inn for Christmas music, Christmas shopping and our snowball special. Don’t let the little ones miss Santa and Mrs. Clause on Christmas Day, Saturday July 25.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Laura Franklin

Good Morning All!

We have a wonderful Wednesday getting started out here at the Baldpate Inn where you can always find a smile waiting for you and a warm offering of soups and friendship. Today is an especially scrumptious soup day, as we will be serving our Red Chili and Broccoli Cheese. I have started to take the advice of fellow front desk associate, Cory, and now add a few dashes of Tabasco to my red chili, as well as, a little bit of our famous cornbread. I do believe that this has got to be the best way to do it folks!

As most of you already know, homemade is the only way we do it out here and a perfect example for this would be with our muffins of the day, Mandarin Orange and Cranberry Nut. Nothing opens up the taste buds like baked goods that are made fresh daily! Also, made fresh every day, are our wonderful assortment of pies that are hard for even the strongest of us to resist. Have your waiter put a little ice cream on top and a better summer treat can not be found!

If our menu hasn't gotten you geared up for a trip out to visit us today, then let me tell you about tonight's weekly history discussion! Tonight we will be stepping away from our usual Estes Park trivia and talk a little bit about the local town of Glen Haven. The topic is going to be "Glen Haven, Hidden Jewel" and will center on the overlooked community and all it has to offer. If you don't know much about the Summer Enchanted Evenings Series, then all you need to know is that it is at 7pm, free, open to everyone, and most importantly includes complimentary cookies and refreshments! What a sweet deal! If you can't make it this week, next Wednesday's topic is going to center on the Estes Park Newspaper Digitization Project. Make an evening of it and call us for dinner reservations before, at 970-586-keys.

After bribing the cooks, I believe that tomorrow we will be serving our yummy Cowboy Buffalo Stew and Potato Leek soup. If we aren't then I apologize and I believe I will be tracking down those ornery cooks to get my 5 dollars back!

As always, thanks for reading everyone!

Good Morning Estes Park,

It’s a great, all be it damp, day in Estes today, but it the weather looks to pull up and get better as the morning goes on. From the front desk we want to wish the best of luck to members of our staff who embarked at 1am to hike Long’s Peak this morning, hopefully they’ll summit the mountain and come back to us safely.

Tickets have been flying out the door with people calling ahead for reservation, so if you are planning to come please call us at 970-586-6151.
We’re very excited this weekend for a special event here at The Baldpate Inn; Christmas is coming early this year, and The Baldpate Inn is celebrating Christmas in July. We’re having the Spruce House, the best place for Christmas anything in Estes Park, coming to decorate the inside of the Baldpate. Bring the entire family, including the little ones, because a certain red-appareled gentleman will be making an appearance. The staff will be in costume, the Inn will be decorated, and special dining promotions will be available in celebration of the season.

The chefs were gracious enough to let me know that tomorrow will be serving Red Chili and Broccoli Cheese soups.

We look forward to sharing all that the Baldpate Inn has to offer with you.

Best Wishes,

Good Morning Estes Park,

It’s a beautiful day here on Twin Sisters Mountain, and it looks to only get better from here. I definitely suggest making a hike to Mill’s lake today; Glacier Gorge is the most beautiful feature that Rocky Mountain National Park has to offer, in my opinion. The rain is supposed to show up later this afternoon, so get on the trail early and beat the crowds and rain.
Before we go any further, I just want to thank the Encore, Encore! Theater group for an outstanding opening weekend of 7 Keys to Baldpate. If you haven’t heard, this summer, for three more weekends, The Baldpate Inn is proudly showing the play of the novel for which we are named after. 7 Keys to Baldpate is the humorous tale of wagers, romance, murder, slamming doors, and twists. Give us a call for tickets at 970-586-6151, they’re going fast so get your group together and come on up.
If you are going to be in Estes Park one of the next two weekends, we are offering a special accommodation package. It is called our Play and Stay package, and it includes overnight accommodations, two tickets to our play, and dinner for two, include two glasses of wine and two slices of pie. All of this for $200! Give us a call for availability.

Now to the main purpose of the blog: our daily menu.
Soups: Today we’re serving our delicious Cowboy Buffalo Stew, one of the most popular dishes at Baldpate, along with our Pumpkin Curry soup, which goes extremely well with some cool whipped topping.
Muffins: Today our muffins are the Oatmeal Blues, the best combination of oatmeal and blueberries ever, and our savory Onion Garlic muffins, which are made just to soak up the broth from the Buffalo Stew.
So far the chefs are being secretive and only gave me one of the soups for tomorrow, White Chili is going to be on the menu.

We look forward to seeing you for lunch, dinner, or a overnight stay, so give us a call at 970-586-6151 to make reservations, or for dining go online through our dining page, http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp, and reserve directly.

Have a blessed day,

Play Tonight!

Good Morning All,

We have a fabulous day cooking out here at the Baldpate as we look forward to serving our Beef Stew & Broccoli Cheese soups as well as our Lemon Ginger and Golden Sunshine Muffins. Also, in case you didn't know today is National Peach Ice Cream Day and while we unfortunately don't have peach ice cream, we do have our delicious homemade peach pie that can be served ala mode for you out on our porch if you like. On a fine day like this it sure would be hard to say no to that!

Also on the menu for tonight, is the opening for our namesake play "Seven Keys to Baldpate", which will be performed on our sundeck at 6:30 this evening. If you haven't heard about the play it is a mystery and a comedy appropriate for all ages and is being put on by the theater company "Encore, Encore" out of Fort Collins. If you are interested, please give us a call at 970-586-keys, as I believe that we still have a few tickets available for tonight and also for the other performances that will be put on throughout the rest of July and beginning of August. If you are going to be around Estes Park in the next few weeks then the play is a "must see" and would be perfect for a group outing or even a special date for two.

Well, that's about all the news I have for today folks. Let us know if you have any questions about the play, the dining room, or if you just want to chat about the weather as we would love to hear from you!

Thanks for reading,

Good Morning Estes Park,

It’s already a beautiful day here on Twin Sisters Mountain and its only going to get better. The high today is close to 80 so pack an extra bottle of water while you’re out on the trails. The one trail I’m looking forward to this afternoon is Sand Beach Lake, down in the Wild Basin; the lake is surrounded by a beautiful sandy beach and it is made more impressive by the mountain in the back ground.
If you endeavors take you down to Wild Basin or the rest of Rocky Mountain National Park for the matter, The Baldpate Inn is near if you are in need of a bite to eat. We’re located right across from Lily Lake Trailhead, which is between mile markers 6 and 7 on highway 7. We always have a great lunch crowd filled with hungry hikers, so feel free to drop in as well. Because of the great turn out everyday, we recommend reservations and you can get them either by calling us at 970-586-6151, or going online to our dining page, http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp, and make a reservation directly.

Now to the meat of the blog, our daily menu:
Soups: Today we’re serving our delicious White Chili and Cream of Mushroom Soup. The Mushroom soup goes very well with a Two Rivers Chardonnay.

Muffins: The muffins of the day are Zucchini Nut and Peanut Butter. Peanut Butter muffins put peanut butter cookies to shame, so definitely get your hands on some.

Today I got caught snooping around the kitchen, so I only have one soup to report for tomorrow, and that is our classic Beef Stew.

Hope you all have a blessed day,

Cory Meza

Good Morning Estes Park!

What a terrific Tuesday we have getting started out here at the Baldpate. The sun is shining over Lily Mountain and the hummingbirds are all-a-twitter as they chatter around their feeders for all our guests to see. I can smell fresh baked breads and pies being prepared in the kitchen by our cooks, and our servers hum along to their favorite tunes being played in our dining room. All things considered, we have so many things to be thankful for as we spend another day in beautiful Estes Park.

One thing that I am especially thankful for is good food, like today's soups and muffins. On the menu for the day is our Red Chili and our Potato Leek soups, along with our Chocolate Mystery and Lemon Blueberry Muffins. Yummy! Also I can't forget about our famous pies, made fresh daily!

Just to remind everyone, we are gearing up for our very first performance of "The Seven Keys to Baldpate." If you haven't gotten tickets yet, I urge you to do so as soon as possible; this is one you won't want to miss! Seven strangers all go to a closed resort in the middle of winter believing that they alone have the only key to Baldpate. What ensues is a melodrama farce that will leave you wondering "what next?" and laughing out loud as the characters spin a web of mystery and entertainment! Give us a call at 970-586-keys in order to reserve a spot for you and yours on opening night, July 17th. Tickets are $15 or $12 with a dinner reservation.

On the menu for tomorrow night is another of our "Summer Enchanted Evenings" free history series as well as our Cowboy Buffalo Stew and Tomato Rice soups. The talk for this week Will be all about the Dunraven archeology dig and what progress has been made. Come on out and enjoy complimentary refreshments while gaining Estes Park trivia that you can impress your friends with.

As always, thanks for reading Baldpaters!

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is shaping up to be a perfect hiking day, and if you haven't done it yet, I would suggest coming over to our neck of the woods and trying out the Lily Mountain trail. It's not too long or too short and is the perfect precursor to a bowl of our Corn Chowder or White Chili soups, which we will be serving today. Also, if you are looking to build up your supply of carbohydrates before or after a good workout, our homemade breads and muffins would be a winning way to do so. Today we will be having our All Bran and Green Onion Cream Cheese muffins along with our Honey Wheat Loaf and world famous Cornbread.

On the schedule for the Baldpate this week it looks like we will be having our Summer Enchanted Evenings Series on Wednesday with the topic being an "Update on the Dunraven Cottage Archaeological Dig". Also, this Saturday is going to be the very first performance of the play "The Seven Keys to Baldpate". If you haven't gotten your tickets yet for this event I would strongly recommend giving us a call at 970-586-keys, as it is something you won't want to miss this summer. In fact, go ahead and make a night of it with reservations in our dining room as well for a fantastically memorable evening!

If you haven't heard, The Baldpate Inn is participating in the Enjoy Estes Park wooden nickel promotion. If you spend $35 in our restaurant then you get a wooden nickel to spend somewhere else around town; if you spend $45, then you are welcome to cash in a nickel that you had previously recieved for either a piece of our delicious homemade pies or your very own copy of The Seven Keys to Baldpate. What a fantastic tradeoff!

Also, if you are thinking about coming in for lunch or dinner tomorrow, the cooks have let me in on the secret of tomorrow's soups, which are going to be Potato Leek and Red Chili. What a terrific Tuesday combination!

As always, thanks for reading and best wishes to you all!

Yee Haw!

Well it is a fabulous day out at the Baldpate and we are all so excited to be in our western wear today in honor of the commencement of the Rooftop Rodeo! Most of our staff have been going to the rodeo all week and I have been hearing that a lot of fun was had by all. Tonight is my night to go and I couldn't be happier that I also have tickets to the Queen's Dance. But if you are like me, before you do the boot scooting boogie, you have to get some delicious food in your belly. Drop by the Baldpate Inn today where we will be serving our Red Chili and Cream of Mushroom Soup, as well as our Zucchini Nut and Trail Mix Muffins. And what goes better with a rodeo than cornbread? The Baldpate Inn cornbread is world famous and can't be beat!

To go along with our delicious menu today, we will also be having Lloyd, the singing cowboy out here for your entertainment from 3-5 o'clock. Lloyd entertained folks yesterday evening for a few hours and was even taking requests!

Also if you haven't heard, Mr. John Meissner will be giving a little history lesson on the Rooftop Rodeo today outside in our mystery theater at 2 o'clock. Following the talk, lunch will be sponsored by the Estes Park History Rescue Project. What a sweet and delicious deal! If you don't have plans today or you would like to make new ones, call us for reservations at 970-586-5397.

And for tomorrow's soup rumor, all I could get out of the chefs is that we will be having our hearty Cowboy Buffalo Stew! As for the other soup, well....if you are like us out at the Baldpate you always appreciate a good mystery!

Thanks!

Good Morning Estes Park,

Cory Meza here wishing you a Good morning and happy hiking. After work today, I’ll be heading to Potts Puddle, it’s a little lake on top of a rock shelf, over by Mummy Mountain off Fall River Road. It’s a looking like a wonderful day out there, with a high of 75 and only a 20% chance of rain, definitely get out early, to avoid the crowds, and stay out late. Before I go any further, All of us at the Baldpate would like to thank Sybil Barnes for speaking about our own Key Room last night, as the focus of our on-going program, Summer Enchanted Evenings. If you haven’t been to a lecture yet, we strongly encourage you to come up and spend a Wednesday evening here at the charming Baldpate Inn listening to a speech on something uniquely Estes Park.
This Saturday we’re hosting the Roof Top Rodeo Luncheon, there will be a guest speaker giving the history and fascinating facts about the Rodeo, and afterwards will be hosting a Luncheon for all that attend the lecture. Space is limited so give us a call to reserve your seat, 970-586-6151.

We’re serving up some delicious food today and would love to have you come by and share the charm of The Baldpate Inn with us.
Soups: We are serving our delicious Beef Stew and Broccoli cheese soups today. I like the Beef stew and using a piece of our Honey Wheat loaf to soak up all the good broth.
Muffins: We’ll be serving our homemade Banana Butterscotch Muffin, a staff favorite, and our Lemon Blueberry Muffin, my personal favorite.

The cooks were nice to be this morning and gave me the soups of tomorrow, it looks like there will be White Chili and Tomato Rice soups on the menu tomorrow.

Good Morning All!

It is shaping up to be a fine morning out at the Baldpate and we are all super excited about tonight's weekly history series, Summer Enchanted Evenings, because it is all about us! Our key museum is this weeks topic and we are especially honored to have Estes Park's very own Sybil Barnes speak on our behalf and act as our "key guru" for the evening. Sybil is a local historian and Estes Park enthusiast and we could not have hoped for a better person to represent us and our keys. Please come out for a good time and an outstanding history lesson...as always these talks are free, open to the public, and include complimentary refreshments!

In addition to tonight's history lesson, be sure to come out on Saturday afternoon for a free talk about the history of the Rooftop Rodeo. For all rodeo fans this is a must see and you might be excited to hear that lunch is being sponsored by the Estes Park History Rescue Project. Please join us around 2:00 to take a bite out of history!

If you are able to make it out for the Summer Enchanted Evenings series tonight you will be excited to know that we will be serving Red Chili and Chicken & Rice soup. Our muffins are going to be Zucchini Dill and All Bran....what a delicious combination!

After interrogating the cooks, I was able to deduce that the soups for tomorrow will be Beef Stew and Tomato Rice. If you can't make it out today, call us for reservations tomorrow at 970-586-6151.

Thanks for reading!

Good Morning Estes,

Cory Meza here and may I us at The Baldpate Inn be the first to wish you a happy, and safe, 4th of July! It’s going to be a modest day in Estes Park today, only topping out in the mid 60s, there is a chance of rain today but let’s keep our fingers crossed that the fire works tonight won’t get rained out. Right now it’s a lovely day for hiking and I suggest getting an early start on the Flattop Mountain Trail, its located at Bear Lake trail head, and is about 4.4miles to the top of the mountain, the snow has cleared above tree line so you can make it to the summit.
If you get rained out or are done hiking for the day, come on by The Baldpate Inn, we’re serving up some delicious soups today and would love for to come and join us. We’re located right by Lily Lake between mile markers 6 and 7. With the seasons going into full swing, we suggest that you called ahead and make reservations, 970-586-6151, or go through our online site and make a reservation directly using our dining page, http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp.
And now for the part you’ve been waiting for, the menu for today:
Soups: Red Chili- our hearty mix of beef, tomatoes and spice washes down perfectly with a
Snowy Peaks Merlot or a 1554 Black Ale.
Broccoli Cheese- Fresh Broccoli in a creamy cheese sauce that pairs excellently with a
Snow Peaks Riesling
Muffins: Lemon Blueberry- the best muffins ever, enough said
Cranberry Nut- a sweet blend of pecans and cranberries

Now the kitchen is busy working and I was only able to steal one soup of tomorrow from them, and its our delicious Beef Stew.

Stop by today to wish Laura a very Happy Birthday!

From all of us at The Baldpate Inn we wish you a festive 4th of July ,

Good Morning Baldpaters!

It is a fantastically festive Friday here at the Baldpate as we begin to prepare for the 4th of July. We have out several of our red white and blue decorations on our porch and in our dining room and we can't wait to watch the fireworks from the valley tomorrow night!

Today's soups include the always good, always popular Cowboy Buffalo Stew, as well as one of my new favorites, Cream of Mushroom. Our muffins for the day include the tangy Zucchini Dill and the sweet and yummy Poppy Seed. Mmm Mmm...With all this good food I'm not sure if I'll have room for a piece of our delicious pie....then again, I don't think I can pass up a piece of our famous Rhubarb.

Just to remind everyone, next Wednesday we will be having another of our Summer Enchanted Evening history talks at the Baldpate, but the topic is especially close to our hearts since it is about our very own keyroom! We will be having a guest speaker from the American History Savers Project come to speak about the keyroom and answer any questions one might have about the key museum. If you are like me, then you have a lot of questions regarding the start of the museum, the stories behind some of the keys, and how the keys are currently being catalogued. As always the series is free to the public and coffee, cookies, and punch will be served. Feel free to get a head start on your key trivia by having dinner with us beforehand and talking with one of you knowledgeable waiters. And while I can't tell you what soups we will be having next Wednesday, I did wrestle out of the cooks that we will be having Red Chili tomorrow.

I would also like to say Happy Birthday to one of our staff, Bri, who is turning a whopping twenty years old today!

As always, thanks for reading!

Good Morning All,

Well, it seems to be a week of beautiful mornings out here at the Baldpate and today is no exception. The sun is shining over Twin Sisters Mountain and the air smells as fresh and sweet as a fresh batch of homemade baked goods....or perhaps that is just the aroma wafting over from our kitchen where our chefs are cooking up Banana Butterscotch and Green Onion Cream Cheese Muffins today. MmmMmm! As nice as it is outside; however, don't discount a warm bowl of delicious soup. Nothing gets me more prepared for a good hike or a fun day in town like a bowl of our Garden Vegetable or Red Chili, which the cooks are preparing today.

The hummingbirds also seem to be in fine order this morning, but that could be due to the fact that they got so much attention last night for our Summer Enchanted Evenings Series that was all about...well, hummingbirds! Mr. Scott Rashid, hummingbird expert, entertained a group of twenty or more with his educational talk about our quick winged friends and was even able to catch a few of them on the porch in order to give everyone a closer look. I've always said that our hummingbirds were a bit spoiled, but with such a large audience last night, I am sure they are going to be showing off like crazy for the next couple of days.
If you missed the hummingbird talk, don't worry! We will be having an equally interesting discussion next week about our very own Key Museum! As always, these talks are free and open to the public every Wednesday at 7 and include complimentary cookies, coffee, and punch.

I was told to keep tomorrow's soups under wraps, but we're all friends here right? Just be sure not to tell to many people, but it looks like we are going to be having Cowboy Buffalo Stew and Cream of Mushroom.

And if you plan on stopping by today or sometime this weekend give us a ring at 970-586-6151 or visit our website at www.baldpateinn.com and click on the opentable button under our dining page to make reservations. The Baldpate Inn is simply bristling with activity lately and we look forward to sharing its special charm with you and yours!

Thanks for reading Baldpaters!

Good Morning Estes Park,

Cory Meza here at the Front Desk wishing you a splendid day while you are out and about. The forecast is calling for a very nice day with the highs in the upper 70s and thunderstorms possibly in the afternoon around 3pm. That means pack your water and sunscreen and get hiking early. Today I recommend Blue Lake, from the Bear Lake trail head follow the trail to Black Lake, and at the base of Thatchtop Mountain turn up the hill, eastward, until you find the lake sitting on a rock shelf. The views of the mountains and the valley are spectacular. I also suggest getting a head start on this hike earlier than later, 1) Bear Lake trailhead fills up quickly during the day, and 2) you’ll avoid the thunderstorms in the afternoon.
So when you do finish hiking and are hungry for something to satisfy your appetite, stop on by The Baldpate Inn, we’re right off highway 7 right across the road from Lily Lake. We just keep getting busier and busier, so we encourage you call ahead and make reservations, 970-586-6151, or go online and reserve a table through our dining page, http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp.
Today Menu:
Soups: White Chili and Tomato Rice, which is especially good with some pepper jack cheese

Muffins: Oatmeal Blues, oatmeal blueberry muffins made better by the Baldpate Chefs, and Three Cheese Muffins, which are great when used to soak up the Tomato rice soup

I snagged this info from my insider source in the kitchen and tomorrow soups will be Red Chili and Garden Vegetable.

Have a blessed day wherever you are headed,

Cory MezaFront Desk
