Since it is Memorial Day we are especially thinking of our Military families and are honored to have Rainey, who is a military wife, on our 2010 staff. Her husband Michael is a Captain in the U.S. Army for an Infantry unit of 165 soldiers at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. When talking to Rainey about what significance Memorial Day has for her and her family she responded with: “Memorial Day makes me very proud of the service that my husband does for our country and I am grateful for the small part that I play in supporting him in his service to our country. I would also like to send a sincere thank you to all of the other men and women serving in the U.S. armed forces both past and present, and their spouses, for all the sacrifices they make in order to serve. As an army wife I know how hard it is and am very grateful to all the men and women who are willing to make that kind of sacrifice.”

The entire Baldpate staff would like to salute our military families wherever they may be all over the world this Memorial Day. And thank you to Rainey for allowing us the perspective to truly revere the honor our military bestows on us.

If you would like to come and celebrate Memorial Day with us we will certainly be happy to have you. We will be serving our White Chili and Garden Vegetable soups. We will also be serving our famous cornbread along side our Tripple Cheese muffins and Honey Wheat bread.

Introducing the Supervising Staff of 2010

May 28th, 2010, marks the begining of our 94th season!! Just 4 short days until we are serving you in our quaint rustic mountain setting!

Today we would like to introduce you to our wonderful, intelligent, and talented management staff:

Eric Knapke (Hotel Manager)
Jason Weitzel (Dining & Kitchen Manager)
Alyssa Craig (Events & Dining Manager)
Andrea Arrigucci (Events & Dining Manager)

Hello again to everyone! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to be returning to the Baldpate Inn this season. After another great semester at the University of Dayton in Ohio, I was ready to return to the mountains and enjoy the wonderful scenery of Estes Park. The flatlands of Ohio just aren't quite as interesting as the Rocky Mountains. I look forward to seeing many of our loyal, returning guests again this summer and meeting plenty of new faces as well.

Hello everyone, my name is Jason and this is my sixth summer at the Baldpate Inn. I am a sophomore at the University of Colorado at Boulder. My area of study is Business with an emphasis in Finance. I'm excited for the summer and all the interactions with guests that are to come. I would like to extend my invitation for you to come and join us for a meal or even an overnight excursion. Thanks!

Hi! My name is Alyssa and I am one of the event managers here at the Baldpate for the summer 2010 season. I am currently a senior at New Mexico State University and plan on graduating in December. My major is Hotel Restaurant and Tourism management. After graduation I plan on moving to Phoenix. I am very excited to be working here this summer!

Greetings from Estes Park! My name is Andrea Arrigucci and I am from El Paso, TX. I recently graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. It is an honor to be part of the management team this season as the other Dining and Events Manager. Coming from the desert it is wonderful to be surrounded by the beautiful view of trees, rivers, and wildlife, not a cactus in sight. I look forward to being apart of your visit and hope that you will enjoy your stay.

With just over a week until Opening Day (May 28th, 2010!), we want to introduce to you the Summer 2010 Front Desk Staff!

Hi! My name is Emily Fisher and I am part of the Front Desk Staff for this summer. I'm currently a junior at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. I'm a hospitality business major and I want specialize in hotels after I graduate. In my free time I enjoy cooking and creating new recipes. I'm extremely excited to be at The Baldpate Inn and I'm enjoying the beautiful view as well as adventerous hiking trails.

Hola!! My name is Jesslyn Ratliff and I am also a part of the Front Desk Staff for the summer. I am from New Mexico. I just graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelors in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. I hope to one day specialize in event/wedding planning. I am definitely enjoying this cool weather compared to the New Mexico heat. I'm excited to see what the summer has in store for me here at the Baldpate Inn!

Hello all, my name is Tyler Starkey and I have the pleasure of being apart of the 2010 Balpate Inn Front Desk staff. I attend school at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I am currently a senior majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Administration with a focus in casino gaming. After graduation I plan on pushing myself further into the hospitality industry. When I am not enjoying myself at the Baldpate Inn, I like to relax by hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains and composing music.

Well Hey Y'all! I am Chelsea Rose from the Great State of Texas! I am absolutely thrilled to be apart of The Baldpate Inn team. I am enjoying the mountain air and hiking the gorgeous trails. Currently, I am a senior at Oklahoma State University seeking a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. I plan to continue to serve others in any way I can, possibly headed toward a career in Wedding Coordination. A fun fact about me is that I am a professional mascot. Yes, you read that right. I am a certified mascot instructor and have held collegiate mascot positions as well as promoting a restaurant in Stillwater as their Corporate Mascot. I look forward to serving you at The Baldpate Inn this Summer!

Home Cooking!

Howdy! Preparation at the Baldpate is in process and the Summer 2010 Staff are running around getting ready for your arrival.

In the midst of the preparation, the Summer Staff has been able to taste Lois' delicious homemade sloppy joes and scallop potatoes. The sloppy joes had a pleasant kick that made them delightfully unique and the scallop potatoes brought me back home.

A few nights later, Drew, one of the new cooks prepared a home cooked meal of Chili and Beer Bread. The Chili was extremely flavorful and was completed with a topping of cheddar cheese, and the Beer Bread was so good everyone asked for seconds.

With all of this delicious home cooking the staff is excited to taste the soup, salad and most of all the pies that the Inn offers. We're excited to share this home cooking with you!

Hope to see you soon on Opening Day! (May 28th, 2010)

Spring Cleaning!

The new 2010 Summer staff is hard at work preparing for the upcoming season.
We are shoveling snow, cleaning wood shelves, painting, rearranging furniture, and anxiously awaiting your arrival!

The remnants of the May Blizzard are melting away revealing a gorgeous, Summer mountain scene. The sun is shining, the hummingbirds are humming, the hiking trails are ready to be explored, and the Inn is busting with enthusiastic staff!

Estes Park is waking up from its Winter slumber. Downtown is buzzing with locals and tourists, alike, taking in the beauty and small town charm. The staff took a field trip to enjoy mountain cookies, fudge, and the local dining. We also enjoyed a late night film in the town's historic theatre. Summer in Estes has certainly begun!

We look forward to your arrival,
Chelsea Rose

May Snowfall

Good Morning Everyone!

It certainly feels great to be back in Estes Park after another semester of school at the University of Dayton in Ohio. My return to the mountains has been marked by a beautiful snowfall last night and into this morning. The storm dropped about 15-18 inches on the Baldpate, but it has definitely created a gorgeous winter wonderland outside.

As a reminder, opening day is May 28th this year. New this year is the addition of Breakfast at Baldpate. Our famous breakfast that, in the past, had only been available to inn guests will now be available to others. Space is limited and reservations will be required for breakfast. For more information, check out the website at www.baldpateinn.com.

If you're beginning to make your summer plans and want to include the Baldpate Inn as one of your stops, give us a call for lodging or dining reservations at 970-586-5397.
